  15.      _m_o_u_s_e allows the user to modify mouse acceleration, mapping (left- or
  16.      right-handed), and click speed (delay between clicks in a double-click).

  18.      The user can launch this panel from the toolchest (Desktop > Customize >
  19.      Mouse) or at a Unix shell command line.  Like most other customization
  20.      panels, the mouse panel has the ``runonce'' feature, meaning only one
  21.      instance of the application will run at one time.  Attempting to launch
  22.      the application a second time will have the effect of deiconifying the
  23.      application window or popping it to the top on the current desk.

  25.      For mouse acceleration, the Finer Control button allows the user to
  26.      change acceleration and threshold sliders independently.  The
  27.      acceleration slider controls how many times faster the mouse pointer will
  28.      travel when it moves more than some number of pixels in a short time; the
  29.      threshold slider controls that number of pixels.

  31.      If both the acceleration and threshold sliders are set all the way to the
  32.      right, then the mouse pointer will travel far across the screen when
  33.      moved just slightly.  If both the acceleration and threshold sliders are
  34.      set all the way to the left, then the mouse pointer will travel only a
  35.      few pixels when moved, and the user will need to move the mouse over many
  36.      pixels to obtain that small shift in the pointer's position.  If the
  37.      acceleration is zero, then the mouse pointer will always move the same
  38.      distance across the screen, no matter how fast or slowly the user flicks
  39.      the mouse.

  41.      The acceleration and threshold values corresponding to each of the radio
  42.      buttons have been modified between IRIX 5.3 and IRIX 6.2.  The IRIX 6.2
  43.      mouse panel supports a wider variety of mouse hardware, including the new
  44.      Logitech mouse provided with SGI's Impact platform.

  74.      the double-click speed setting is an Xt resource, it is saved in
  75.      $_H_O_M_E/._S_g_i_r_e_s_o_u_r_c_e_s, which is treated like a ._X_d_e_f_a_u_l_t_s file.

  77.      The ._S_g_i_r_e_s_o_u_r_c_e_s file is not intended to be edited directly by end
  78.      users.  If, for example, the user edits the file and makes the
  79.      ****mmmmuuuullllttttiiiiCCCClllliiiicccckkkkTTTTiiiimmmmeeee resource too small (smaller than 90), then after logging
  80.      out and logging back in the user may be unable to double-click.  If this
  81.      happens, launching Desktop > Customize > Mouse on the toolchest and
  82.      selecting the Slow radio button under Click Speed should make the mouse
